With his Southern baritone that closely resembles the Man in Black’s iconic voice, lead singer David Burney is “channeling J.R.,” says Cash’s niece Jackie. Johnny Folsom 4 honors the Man in Black with a soul-stirring, career-spanning performance that leading roots music publication No Depression has described as a "time machine" for those who never saw Cash perform live. Johnny Folsom 4’s recently released album of Cash songs, “Sun Set,” was recorded at Sun Studio in Memphis, where Cash began his recording career in the mid-1950s.
