Jake Blount is a Providence-based performer and scholar whose work explores and reimagines Black folk music through both performance and research. First recognized as a standout string band musician, he has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall and the Newport Folk Festival to NPR's Tiny Desk, while his acclaimed albums have earned recognition from NPR, The New Yorker, and Rolling Stone. A music consultant for the film Sinners and performer on the soundtrack to Ken Burns's The American Revolution, Blount is currently pursuing graduate degrees in musicology, ethnomusicology, and anthropology at Brown University, with a new string band album arriving in September 2026.
