Garret Elias Garret Elias is a New York City-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose lifelong passion for storytelling forms the core of his musical identity. While performing under his legal name, the Garret Elias project is fueled by a tight-knit band born out of a shared grind; Garret formed the group with his restaurant co-workers who went from living paycheck to paycheck and letting loose at dive bars together to becoming the essential sonic foundation of the project's music. Originally a teenage rapper inspired by hip-hop icons like Mac Miller and J. Cole, Garret's sound evolved into alt-rock as he picked up the guitar and drew inspiration from bands like Counting Crows and The Fray.
