The Southern California six-piece (comprised of Conner Reeves, Hayden Barton, Shane Barton, Jack Nugent, Noah Kurtz, and Davis Stewart), most of whom have known each other since childhood, create music that can feel both outside of space and time yet deeply connected to it. 2025’s Fat Possum full-length debut Moneyball, made within the confines of their self-built Long Beach Studio, showcased the band’s knack for connecting the dots, conjoining aspects of ambient, slowcore, experimental folk, southern rock and more into something both cohesive and inquisitive. It’s music that has always considered the complexity of the world around them and the simple things that bind us together. New EP It’s Glass evolves these ideas in ways that sound both bigger and more intimate, with five tracks that fit together as much as they color outside the lines, like small universes that could not exist without each other. IDAHO: Across its storied history, IDAHO has built a cult following devoted to the mysterious allure of the band’s singular sound. Emerging in the early 90s and often linked to the seminal bands of post-grunge-boom 'slowcore,' IDAHO is distinguished by the ragged elegance of frontman Jeff Martin’s songcraft, with his cavernous 4-string electric guitar feeding back in ripples of alien tones and odd, melancholic tunings. Less dirge than desert, alternatingly lush and laconic, gravelly and bucolic, IDAHO balances airy and earthen elements in perfect admixture. To all those who have delighted in IDAHO's canon of four decades and ten records, there is the shared if not isolated notion of holding a diamond in the rough. Following a period of quiet, IDAHO has reemerged in a moment of renaissance, with a feature length documentary, box set anthology, and the first new album in thirteen years (now signed to Arts & Crafts) spurring live performances coast-to-coast and overseas. As its creative force Martin puts it, perhaps too simply, “this band will help you get through a challenging time in your life or bore and confuse the shit out of you” – a potent reminder of the punk ethic at the core of making tirelessly slow, beautifully sad music, a force that in IDAHO, even after all these miles, is still very much on fire.
